Zhenzhu is four years old! My bestie and beloved. Thank you to everyone who has suffered through the 90 seconds of screeching to make friends with this delightful lap hoarder.

Zhenzhu’s backstory: mom is a Chihuahua mix, dad is a blue heeler (cattle dog). Both worked on a dairy farm outside Gustine in the Central Valley. The farmer brought them to the local flea market to sell. One of Z’s littermates was sold there, but then a guy came by and said his neighbor ran a dog rescue and would make sure the pups got shots, fixed, and placed in good homes. The farmer surrendered the litter of happy accidents. And the babies were posted online.

When some people are looking for a distraction or dream of their future they go on dating sites or browse Zillow. Me, I go on petfinder. I swear I wasn’t looking for love, but there was her photo and I fell hard at first sight. The next day I drove 100 miles just to meet her. I couldn’t take her home until she was fixed. I could tell she liked me back. Best impulse decision I ever made.
