Here’s a short clip from Comrade Lover performing with babamosheh and Bantaba Drum Call at @oaklandasiancc for their Lunar New Year and Black History Month celebration!

Description of the video:

“ICE OUT! 🔥” appears on video above a white, red, yellow, and green lion (traditional Asian lion dance costume with two dancers inside). The lion walks towards center stage where African drummers from Bantaba Drum Call are playing and where a red, gold, blue, dragon (held up on metal poles held by dancers) is doing a dance. The lion raises its head and spots bags of ice cubes on the stage and goes to inspect it. The lion starts kicking and stomping on the ICE and the words “ICE OUT!!” appear again and then “Solidarity ❤️” appears as the dragon also notices the ICE and starts stamping on it. The lion starts kicking the ICE off stage as the words “ICE OUT!!!” appear, followed by “We keep us safe”. The lion walks under the dragon while pushing the ICE out, and then both head to center stage again with the African drummers. The lion sits down to rest while the dragon prances and starts enticing the lion to play. The dragon and lion then bracket the African drummers and hold up banners. The dragon’s banner is a Palestinian flag with the red triangle at the top and gold lettering that says: “Queer as in Free Palestine!” The lion’s banner has an image of a winged unicorn at the top bracked by fire swirls and the Chinese characters 火馬 (fire horse) and 融冰 (melts ICE), with “FIRE 馬 馬 馬 HORSES MELT ICE” below in stylized text (FIRE and MELT are with flames, and ICE is in white and melting). “Happy Lunar New Year & Black History Month! ABOLISH ICE!! SOLIDARITY” appears at the top of the video and “We keep us safe ❤️” at the bottom.
