HELIACALIA no.1 2024-2025 55”x 39” $3000 Professionally framed Tattoo ink, pigment; gold, silver and genuine copper leaf on Fabriano archival paper High quality 24”x 18” hand painted and embellished giclée prints of this painting are offered for $200 In the year of the wood dragon I travelled to visit a friend in the hill country of Texas. A location residing in the path of totality where we chased breaks in the clouds for a view of this cosmic phenomenon. Wood is possibly the rarest substance in the universe and I felt like the sun was being chased by the rarest of dragons hungry to make it sparkle like a gem. There’s an astronomical number of space phantasms occurring at any given moment. However, a total eclipse of the sun is a definitive, immediate experience of perspective in our universe. A glimpse of stars in the middle of the day and an instant drop in temperature rewires our nervous system’s electrical current. I wanted to capture the sudden disruption of sunlight before the feeling dissipated. I imagined the celestial message broadcast to Earth as the four blessings (joy, prosperity, longevity, good fortune) rooted in liberation for all beings. This is one of two very personal paintings I created as an insomniac with a deep passion for ambiguity, chaos, and the pursuit of evolving science. Obviously the original is not priced to sell but of course everything is for sale. Big love @slugg__0 for framing at @sf_frame and @candelafineart for capturing the ¡Metal! Details. I will have a very limited number of prints available at @divingswallowtattoo on Sunday 8/17. The original is on view there until the end of the month.
